OUAI Body Cleanser Review
First, a little housekeeping… OUAI is pronounced as “way”.
I recently received a 1 oz sample of OUAI Body Cleanser in my Sephora PLAY! monthly subscription box. Best $10/month to spend on an inexpensive beauty box subscription.
- To start with, I love the fragrance. I cheated and had to look it up on the OUAI site. “Dean Street: Citrus Fruits, Apricot, Rose, Magnolia, Muguet, Violet, Amber, Liden Blossom and Musk.”
- Secondly, I accidentally used it to wash my face.
I use makeup remover cloths that contain makeup busting oils that are able to get through all-day, long-wearing liquid foundation makeup. Then I use a gentle facial soap to get my face super clean, typically Cetaphil facial bar soap. The other day I tried the OUAI sample, not remembering that it was a body wash. I was in love with the scent, but what it did to my skin blew me away. The OUAI Body Cleanser removed the remaining makeup and oil residue left from the wipes, but it did so without being harsh or drying. There was no tightness, no pulling and I didn’t have to followup with a moisturizer. I don’t like following up a facial cleansing by slathering more goop on my face.
I checked the ingredient list and it contains three skin-loving ingredients:
- Jojoba seed oil – Extracted from the seeds of the Jojoba shrub, it’s a non-comedogenic waxy liquid that’s similar to the skin’s natural sebum protection to help to retain moisture and prevent infection.
- Rosehip oil – Extracted from the seeds of rosehips, it’s another non-comedogenic oil. It’s lightweight, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, contains Vitamins A and E and absorbs easily to revitalize aging skin.
- Lactobacillus – A friendly probiotic bacteria (think yogurt) that can help fight inflammation and aid in the production of antibacterial proteins. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5418745/
Unless my face develops an adverse reaction to it, I will continue to use it as a facial wash.
