Space Saving Skinny Water Filter Dispenser – Under 4.5” Wide
My 20-year old refrigerator started pooling water on the floor each time the water dispenser was used. There has to be a cracked hose someplace. I can hear it sucking air.
Problem #1: I didn’t want to spend money on expensive repairs, much less spend over $1800 for a new fridge.
Problem #2: I also didn’t want to give up filtered water and clean-tasting ice cubes.
I already have a Clearly Filtered water filter pitcher with better filtering capabilities in the fridge for drinking water, but I go through it too fast. I really don’t have the extra space inside the fridge for another pitcher, but… I needed another pitcher.
Solution: I found a super skinny filtering water dispenser from Brita. It’s 4.41” wide, 16” long and 10.25” high. It’s called the Brita Stream UltraMax Water Filter Dispenser and it holds 25 cups of water. I have it on the counter right next to the fridge. I use it as a stage 1 filter to pre-filter my water before putting it into my Clearly Filtered water pitcher to extend the life of its filter.
Pros:
- Narrow design. Place on the counter or in the fridge.
- BPA-free plastic.
- Reduces chlorine taste and odor from municipally treated tap water.
- No waiting for the water to drip through a filter. The water is drawn through the filter when the tap is opened.
- No guessing if the filter needs to be changed. The spigot has a built-in LED sensor light. Green means the filter is good. Red indicates it’s time to replace the filter.
- Easy to carry to the sink for quick filling.
Cons:
- It’s pricier than other water filter pitchers, but keep in mind it also has 2.25 more capacity with 25-cups verses a typical 10-cup Brita pitcher.
- Other Brita filters filter more chemicals and particulates.
- Clearly Filtered pitchers filter radioactive contaminants, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria, microplastics, lead, fluoride, trace pharmaceuticals, hormones, arsenic and more.
